International Law Enforcement Agency Case History

The Challenge

  • An International Law Enforcement Agency faced a shortage of personnel but had several unresolved criminal cases.
  • Because of the sophistication and violence of the crimes, evidence was difficult to obtain and interpret and witnesses were uncooperative, scarce, and difficult to identify or corroborate.
  • The country’s geographic proximity to other countries’ cross-border criminal elements made the incidents more complex.

The Solution

  • The Agency contracted with the IAM Integrated Analytic Methodologies team to provide training to develop skills to overcome their issues.
  • The IAM instructor helped identify several methodologies that could be leveraged to assist with the investigations.
  • The Agency received approval to bring case files into the course, which allowed attendees to apply the methodologies in real time.
  • Despite their limited resources, the Agency was able to apply the methodologies being taught to identify and interpret evidence more effectively.

The Benefits

  • By the end of the course, the Agency successfully apprehended and advanced prosecution of multiple individuals who had committed crimes.
  • Continued integration of IAM methodologies allows the Agency to better serve, secure, and protect its citizens from criminal elements.
  • Organizations and Agencies faced with similar staffing and resources constraints can leverage methodologies presented by IAM to mitigate those shortfalls and as a force multiplier.
